As parents, we wish our children to grow up with focus, patience, analytical thinking with an ability to make right decisions. At the same time, we want them to enjoy learning, be creative, take failures with confidence and turn them into success. Saswath Academy was born out of this desire to coach children, encourage them to learn without fear, motivate them to be creative and thrive in a fun filled environment. We teach children from the age of 5 onwards, with a variety interesting subjects.

We have classes round the clock from absolute beginners, all the way to advanced, with several beginner and intermediate level classes in between.

A rare checkmate idea with two bishops. This is more of a puzzle than a scenario happening in real world. Kannan explains, as bishops can "see" only one color it takes as much as 19 moves to win. Children who try to learn Chess, are scared to play real games for fear of losing. For them solving puzzles gives them confidence to see the patterns and understand the tactics. We love Chess and believe the moves are poetry 🙂 The Chess Poem! Want a break from your smart phone And some fun in your comfort zone? Just pick an opponent, a pair of chairs, And a chess board of binary squares Sixteen chessmen on each side, In a battle of wits, strategy and pride, Share a field of sixty four squares, Ready to move with their own flair. One square forward at a time, Moves the pawns, eight in a line. Forward, backward and side to side, Attacks the rook in one swift glide. Then follows our radiant knight With an extra jump, left or right, And Looks out in his diagonal way To see the Bishop killing the play. At last, the queen from every site Checks your king under her might. Now hurry up! It is time to prove Your mettle with a strategic move.

Here is a poem encouraging children to keep up the spirit during this awful pandemic times with severe lockdown restrictions... Locked at home for over an year, Devoid of school and friends so dear, We miss the dances, skits and games, The birthday wishes with candle flames. Empty grounds and silent bells, Echo the memories that retell, The joy of sharing food and treats, The laughter, silly fights and greets But bye bye to traffic jams and rain, We've got more time to learn and train, And with online classes in full swing We've learnt to use our creative wing.
